Where to eat

Discover the famous Restaurant Taverna La Fenice

Splendid well-known and excellent dishes will make your stay a truly unforgettable memory.

Below are ourtips for where to eat, the best first courses, second courses, cakes and pastries and ice creams.
And for music lovers, here are our favourite venues where you can listen to good jazz!

BACARI

Genuine Venetian jewels, the bacari are traditional taverns-inns where you can lose yourself among “ombre” (small glasses of wine) and “cicchetti” (the Venetian equivalent of tapas).
Our tips?

Go on an “ombre crawl”, from bacaro to bacaro to enjoy good Veneto wine and typical cicchetti. Here are the best bacari in the city where you can savour the most authentic Venice.

BACARI

  • Osteria Al Portego
  • Corte Dell’Orso
  • Cantina Do Spade
  • Al Volto
  • Al Mercà

RESTAURANTS-INNS

  • Osteria ai 40 Ladroni
  • Antico Gatoleto
  • Al Remer

“Titus Livius tells us that before becoming “Veneti”, the ancient inhabitants of the city were “Heneti” or “Eneti”, in other words “men of wine”. This says a lot about the relationship between the people of Venice and this beverage”. From Corto Sconto, H. Pratt

ELEGANT RESTAURANTS

  • La Taverna
  • Al Vecio Bragosso
  • Ristorante Acqua Pazza
  • Al Covo

Tips for mouth-watering first courses?

Order Bìgoli in salsa or “Risi con le sepe”. The former is a thick spaghetti-like pasta and a creamy onion and anchovy sauce. The latter is a risotto with excellent Venetian cuttlefish and the addition of white wine and Marsala.

PIZZERIAS

  • Rosa Rossa – San Marco
  • Al Profeta – Dorsoduro
  • Birreria La Corte – San Polo

Who invented the pizza? The word “pizza” originated in Gaeta in the Lazio region in 997. But it was Raffaele Esposito, a Neapolitan chef, who in 1889 invented the famous Margherita pizza - tomato, mozzarella cheese and basil, with the same colours as the Italian flag.

AFTER DINNER

  • Il Mercante
  • Ancòra
  • Hard Rock Cafe

Harry’s BarHere in 1949 Giuseppe Cipriani invented the legendary Venetian cocktail known as Bellini. This pink coloured drink is a mix of peach puree and Prosecco. It owes its name to the robes of a saint painted by the famous Venetian painter Giovanni Bellini.

The Artists

Staying here means living art in all its forms - notes, paintings, books, photographs and autographs. Guests, artists and travellers appreciate above all the originality and homely atmosphere of our hotel. Here you can find art in every corner, with more than 200 paintings.

The Phoenix

The phoenix is the symbol of our hotel. The legend tells of a mythical bird from Arabia. It died every 500 years to then rise up again from its own ashes. A rare creature, almost impossible to find. Like a phoenix, our hotel is immersed in legend, history and reality.
